Balls!

This tip sent in by Mike Jensen of Thief River Falls, MN (9/9/99)

A couple of things that I've been learning is the idea of feel and quality of balls.  I'm learning that I like a soft feel.  This is leading me to graphite shafts and softer balls.  Since I'm not so worried about distance anymore, I can use softer balls, and easier swings.  I was playing XL x-outs for ages because they were cheap.  I thought all balls felt like rocks.  Until someone gave me a sleeve of spin balls, and I purchased a slightly better quality of balls.  They felt wonderful, seemed to fly better, and gave me more confidence.   As a high-handicapper, you don't need to spend a fortune, but some consistency in balls of a nice mid-grade seems to have benefited me.
